Can Ideas Reach People Without Their Knowing You? Influencers in the AI Era

In the age of AI, perhaps the form of influencers will change as well.

The trigger for this thought was not a major debate about information businesses. It came from asking an AI about a small scene in a certain movie.

An interpretation that I had previously struggled to find myself was picked up by the AI from an individual's personal impression.

Seeing that, I thought:

I did not know this person. Under normal circumstances, I probably would not have reached this blog. Yet, what was written there related to my own questions.

If so, then leaving my own thoughts on the internet might generate a meaning different from before.

It Began with My Thoughts on Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection

While talking about AI and creativity, I began to feel the importance of context.

What I like and what I find interesting. To convey these more, I had been sharing impressions of works I had watched one after another. Reflecting on this experience now, it amounts to around 20 works.

Among them was "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection."

My evaluation was not that I was deeply impressed by the story's development itself.

Rather, I viewed it as a movie for fans that becomes acceptable only after time has passed. Familiar characters gather as allies and fight together. It shows the combinations fans wanted to see and the relationships that follow.

This experience became the starting point of my idea.

Could the Same Happen to My Own Writings?

So, I considered the reverse position.

If an impression written on someone else's personal blog could become material for my own question, then perhaps if I publish my thoughts and experiences, someday when someone else has a similar question, the AI might find them for me.

That person does not need to know about me.

It is fine if they do not read my blog regularly. As long as they find it as necessary information when considering that question, it will suffice.

Of course, this incident does not demonstrate the comprehensiveness of AI; there is a possibility I could have reached the same page by searching myself.

Still, for me, it created a pathway to information that had previously been out of reach.

From that experience, I considered that if scenes increase where AI searches for information on behalf of humans, the opportunities for finding individual expressions might also change.

Information Reaches Before Popularity

To deliver an expression to people, one must first be known by them. Increase followers, get people to read, and spread the word.

That path is clear.

However, in this experience, the order was different.

What I held first was a question about a specific scene. Information related to that question was found, and afterward, I learned of the existence of the person who wrote it.

Not only moving from people to information, but also reaching from information to people.

This kind of encounter also happens with conventional search. However, if someone can accept long-held questions, search for necessary information, and return explanations of related parts, I believe there are people who will find that path easier to use. At least, I was one of them.

The "influencer" referred to here does not mean someone with many followers, but rather a person whose influence on others' thoughts arises because the information they leave is repeatedly referenced.

For another question, their observations and analyses serve as a reference. Furthermore, other AIs or people trace back to the original information from those citations.

If such repetitions occur while the source remains intact, then that person might hold influence in places distinct from their direct readers or followers.

I considered that AI mechanisms for evaluating the utility of each information source will also advance.

What specific information do they possess in which fields? Do they have unique observations? Are there grounds for their claims? How were their previous assessments?

If such histories become material for selecting references, individuals who are not widely known to humans might emerge as information sources used repeatedly.

This is my hypothesis about the future. It is not a claim that current AI assigns common evaluation points to all expressers and automatically adds points with every citation.

What I wish to consider is a form of influence where, in addition to being read because one is famous, information is found repeatedly because it proves useful.

Are the Number of Followers and the Reach of Thoughts the Same?

Suppose an AI uses a certain person's writing as a reference for an answer. The person who receives that answer does not necessarily read the original article.

They might not remember the expresser's name. Access to the site might not increase either.

Still, that perspective could become material for someone else's thinking.

In that case, there might be an influence that cannot be captured merely by how many people follow that person.

However, one cannot simply equate the number of citations with influence or correctness. Citations can occur for criticism, or there may only be increased replication.

Furthermore, if the source is lost, only the thoughts spread, and nothing returns to the expresser.

That is why this story connects with the preservation of information lineage and citations.

Tracing where information comes from becomes important both for preserving the value of the expresser and for the receiver to verify it.

The idea of having an AI's answer incorporate information has already been researched.

From there, I considered that it might not stop at simply increasing blog readership, but rather that the very nature of individual influence could change.

Leaving Current Thoughts for Future Questions

The questions I have now. The things I have thought about them. What I corrected after receiving counterarguments. Things I still do not understand.

Leave these on the internet.

It is fine if many people do not read them immediately after publication. Years later, when someone else has the same question, there is a possibility they will be found as usable material.

I wish to try such expression.

For that reason, I want to distinguish what are confirmed facts and where my interpretations begin. It would be unfortunate if personal opinions became definitive answers solely because the AI introduced them.

Regarding the scene in "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection," the fact that someone shared the same interpretation is separate from whether it was the production side's intent.

Still, because that person left an impression, I encountered material to reconsider my own question.

Next time, something I leave might become such for someone else.
